P&G Jumps into Social Networking
This week, consumer retail giant Proctor and Gamble announced the launching of two social networking sites: Capessa, a forum addressing women's health and parenting issues, and the People's Choice Community.
I always use P&G as an example in presentations on consumer generated media because the volume of content we all produce about P&G is amazing. Go Google the diaper making, coffee distributing, detergent marketing giant and look at how many blogs, discussion forums and private websites are on the first few search results pages.
The first page of Google results features sites with words like "pandgkills.com" "Satanism" and "cruel animal tests". By encouraging and fostering positive consumer feedback, P&G is laying the groundwork to overcome some of this negative Buzz.
