Yahoo! Buzz anyone?
We've been asked recently about what Yahoo! Buzz is and how to use it. Here's our take at the WM:
Yahoo! Buzz is like a closed circuit version of Digg. Exclusive publishers provide content and then the larger community interacts with the content. Is this the hybrid of Web 1.0 (a limited number of publishers provide content) and Web 2.0 (the larger community interacts with it)? Maybe.
How do we use it? We look to see what stories, in nearly real time, Internet users are interested in. If one of our clients has content related to a hot topic, we make sure to get that content visible and ride the coattails of the Buzz.
Think of it like the time in high school when you got too close to a semi on the highway, put your Camaro in neutral and drafted for a few miles. The semi creates the energy and you get to move fast and save gas. Oh, now please, don't go trying this at home (the semi/Camaro thing, feel free to use Yahoo! Buzz all day).
